This is a low cost, compact spectral lamp with power supply. 

Unlike the dull light available from Spectrum Tubes these tubes provide a bright and intense light used for optical work and for AA Spectrometry.

The lamp is mounted inside a black protective tube standing up from the top of the power unit. 

By rotating the outer sleeve of the lamp cover, different shaped apertures can be selected.
