How It Is Used
This Zener diode kit is used by plugging a diode into the socket and raising the supply in steps, first in forward bias and then in reverse bias, while voltage and current are noted. In reverse bias only a tiny leakage current flows, read on the µA scale, until breakdown, after which the diode voltage stays nearly constant, which is how it stabilises voltage.
